Introducing Eirlume Mosaic and Stained Glass Studio, nestled in Leitrim, Ireland. The name ‘Eirlume’ is a blend of Éire, the Irish word for Ireland, and lumière, the French word for light. It’s also a play on the word heirloom, reflecting the lasting nature of our work, each stained glass lamp, door and custom mosaic is crafted to be cherished for generations.
Charlie, with 30 years of experience in woodwork, brings a deep expertise in crafting custom furniture and structures, while Vanessa, a lettering artist with a decade of experience as a sign painter and muralist under the name Signs of Power, adds her artistic flair. Together, they combine their talents to create bespoke mosaics and stained glass pieces for homes and businesses across Ireland.
Charlie
Born in the picturesque Loire Valley, France, Charlie discovered his passion for wood carving at just six years old. By the age of fourteen, he joined the esteemed French guild “Compagnons Du Devoir” to refine his skills as a carpenter. After a decade of rigorous training, he relocated to northwest Ireland in 2005, establishing his own business in Leitrim.
Charlie grew up surrounded by his mum’s stunning mosaics and colorful stained glass, which gave him a deep appreciation for how these crafts can transform a space. Being around them from a young age, he naturally developed an eye for how woodwork can complement and enhance their beauty.
Vanessa
Originally from Dublin, Vanessa relocated to Leitrim in 2021. She founded her sign-painting business, Signs of Power, in 2014, creating bespoke shop signs and large-scale, word-based murals for clients across Ireland.
On her first trip to France with Charlie to visit his parents, Vanessa was blown away by his mum’s incredible stained glass and mosaic work. Inspired by what she saw, she decided to take a part-time stained glass course at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin, where she learned how to bring her lettering and designs to life in glass.
She’s always loved the old entranceway mosaics found around Dublin and Sligo and now she’s passionate about bringing that same character and charm into homes and businesses.
